ABOUT

We’re so glad you have chosen to visit us online. We would be honored to have you visit us this Sunday, and hopefully, this page will assist you in learning more about Crossings and the many ministries that occur throughout the week.

On Sunday mornings, start your day with a free cup of coffee in the Atrium, and then experience excellent music and a relevant message in one of five services. All services hear the same message, but differ in the type of music. The 8:15 am Chapel service, our most traditional service, offers all hymns with a small choir. At 9:15 and 10:45 am, enjoy either a service in the Sanctuary with a large choir, orchestra, and praise team – or our most contemporary service held in The Venue with a worship band.

And, yes, we still offer Sunday School. We believe it’s a great way to learn about God’s love for us and build lasting friendships. Classes for all ages are offered at a variety of times on Sunday morning. Also, if you would like to talk to someone about Crossings while here on a Sunday, pastors and volunteers would love to meet you at Guest Central located in the Atrium.

I could go on about all you’ll find here, but I’ll let you browse through the website to discover the many opportunities awaiting you. I hope you’ll visit Crossings, and if you have any additional questions, please feel free to call us at 755-2227.

ARRIVAL & PARKING

14600 N. Portland Avenue
OKC, OK 73134

405-755-2227

It’s a good idea to arrive at least 15 minutes before the service you wish to attend in order to have a moment to explore the worship folder or Crossings App, let us know you’re here, grab a cup of coffee, or connect with friends prior to the service.

A word about parking: we know it’s a big campus and a large building. We hear this comment often from those who haven’t been inside Crossings, but once you enter the parking lot, we think you’ll find it easy to navigate – inside and out. This map makes it easy for you to locate and choose the parking lots nearest each entrance. Please note that the parking spaces closest to the Main Entrance are designated for guests, and disabled parking spaces are located at each entrance. On Sunday mornings, you can catch a ride in a golf cart from the parking lot to the nearest entrance.

ATTIRE

We are definitely a “come as you are” church. The comment we hear most from people is that the big building was a bit intimidating at first, but once inside, it was so friendly and easy to get around that “I just fit right in.” Dress is a little bit of everything–some in coats and ties, many in jeans. Just be yourself–and be comfortable.

SERVICES & WORSHIP

Our Sunday worship services are sixty-minute experiences which feature a variety of music but the same message — always relevant to today’s needs and issues.

There are five opportunities for worship each Sunday with three distinct music styles. The Venue meets at 9:15 a.m. & 10:45 a.m. and features contemporary worship led by Josh Edington and the Venue Worship team. The Sanctuary meets at 9:15 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. and features blended traditional worship led by Larry Harrison and the Crossings choirs. The Chapel meets at 8:15 a.m. and features a more traditional liturgical service and worship style. Nursery and Sunday School are available throughout the morning.

MINISTRIES

Nursery

NURSERY

Nursery ministry shares the love of Christ with children from infants to 3 years of age and provides the loving care they deserve in a secure environment. Take a moment to explore this section for information about placing your child in Crossings Nursery care, Mother’s Day Out, events, classes, resources, and helpful contact information.

What to Expect

Nursery ministry is fun-filled, safe, and a great way for your children to grow in their faith and community at Crossings.

A word about placing your child in nursery care: parents and siblings are asked not to enter the Nursery classrooms. Children are received by staff members at the door. We will page you if your child is unable to be comforted.

When you bring your child to the nursery, we encourage you to bring the following labeled items in your diaper bag:

  • 3-4 diapers
  • pre-mixed bottles
  • pacifier
  • complete change of clothes

If your children show the following symptoms, please do not bring them to the Nursery. Children should be free from these symptoms for at least 24 hours: fever, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, common cold, excessive cough, childhood diseases, chicken pox, heavy nasal discharge, unexplained rash, skin infection, eye inflammation or discharge, or head lice.

Mother’s Day Out

Nursery Ministry also includes Mother’s Day Out, which exists to provide a safe and loving environment where children begin learning independence and interactive play, while forming new friendships with other children and adult teachers. Mother’s Day Out meets September-May and July (optional) on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m. for ages 6 months through 4 years. Contact Tina Burnett with any questions you have about Mother’s Day Out at Crossings.

Parent / Child Dedication

When parents desire to commit to raising their baby in a Christian home and church, the parents and child are recognized in a Sunday morning service. This public profession is not infant baptism as we do not offer baptism prior to a person’s choosing to believe in Christ. Parents are asked to attend a special one-hour class prior to having their child dedicated. Preregistration is required – you can find out more information about Parent / Child dedication by checking out Nursery events and classes below.

Kids

KIDS

CrossingsKIDS partners with parents to build a foundation of faith in Jesus.

What to Expect

When children arrive, they are encouraged to participate in opening activities, such as coloring, building with blocks, reading a book or forming new friendships. Children attend “Large Group Time” where they experience an awesome Bible teaching, memory verse, and worship. Bible stories are often grouped together in a “series” and have a series Bible verse. Children participate in a variety of activities weekly that reflect on the Bible lesson for that day. These activities include, but are not limited to: crafts, thematic games, sensory activities, and reflective questions. Children attending during the 10:45 hour will receive a snack. Please contact Jamie Schoeling if your child has an allergy so it can be indicated on your child’s name tag. Leaders have access to an outdoor playground for the children and will use it occasionally as weather and time permits.

Special Needs Ministry

Crossings KIDS offers a program for children with special needs at the 9:15 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. service times as well as during Wednesday evening activities. This program offers a one-on-one to one-on-few ministering environment for children of differing abilities. Children have the opportunity to participate in a small Sunday School class, a large group experience with an adult leader, or a combination of these options. Our leaders have a heart for serving children with special needs and feel blessed to share Christ’s love with them.

Kid Faith

Has your child been asking what it means to be a Christian? Is he/she wondering about baptism, why we take communion, or what it means to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ? Kid Faith, offered to 2nd-6th grade students, focuses on these objectives. There is no charge for this class — dinner and materials are included.

A parent session is offered to cover what the children learn at Kid Faith and what their next step should be. Kid Faith meets on various Sunday evenings throughout the year.

5th & 6th

5th and 6th Grades

Many 10- to 12-year-olds are leaving childhood behind, but aren’t quite teenagers. So where do they fit? Right here in Crossings 56!

This ministry is designed uniquely for 5th and 6th graders. We understand that they are maturing and ready to own their faith, but still want to have fun while doing it. We want to empower preteens to grow and develop, to learn and to question, and to discover who God has made them to be.

What to Expect

We start out the morning with donuts and some awesome rounds of gaga ball, 9-square, basketball and hanging with friends all while listening to some great contemporary Christian music. At 9:15 we gather together to prepare our hearts for worship with our own live band. We then move into a large group teaching especially designed for preteens. Bible study continues in small groups separated by grade and gender. This gives our students an opportunity to grow relationships between one another and adult leaders. We round off our morning with a crazy game or two!
