THE BROOKLYN TABERNACLE SINGERS
The Brooklyn Tabernacle Singers are directed by Carol Cymbala, the wife of Pastor Jim Cymbala. The Brooklyn Tabernacle Singers, an ensemble and part of the 270-voice Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir, is, for the most part, composed of vocally untrained church members. They have recorded three videos, three DVDs and numerous albums, and won five Dove Awards and six Grammy Awards.
The Brooklyn Tabernacle Singers are a highly unlikely group of people, a mixture of ethnic and economic backgrounds, in the heart of a city synonymous with coldness and decay. Made up of doctors, attorneys and former street people, nurses and ex-crack addicts, the singers is a unique cross section of humanity. Pastor Cymbala explains: “None of us would have met if it weren’t for Christ. Our backgrounds are just too diverse. But all of us have one thing in common: we have all been lifted up and changed by the power of Jesus Christ. So the singers sings, not about a mere theological doctrine, but about what has happened to them. It’s not just the lyrics of a song; it’s a reality to each of them.”

To capture the essence of TaRanda, you must embrace the word authentic. Stylistically versatile, her voice fits beautifully into the hearts of listeners of all ages. Her vocal authenticity has, for many years, garnered her a role as a featured guest soloist with the famed Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir. She has toured the world, taking command of stages from Europe to Carnegie Hall, and captivates all who are blessed to hear her.
When you experience TaRanda in concert and hear her extraordinarily powerful testimony, so much is revealed: grace, restoration, and redemption. In those moments of ministry, TaRanda unashamedly relies on the Holy Spirit to work as only He can, knowing that lives can truly be transformed at the foot of the cross. We all desperately need more of His grace for every moment, and TaRanda’s concerts point directly to the authenticity and the healing power of God’s unending love.
