Devotional | Caleb Williams | May 3, 2020
Whether we are lifelong Christians, or new Christians who have just come to know the love of God, we can all struggle with the same thing: trusting God.
We have all had situations in our lives when we have struggled to put our trust in God. Whether it’s a situation at work, a prayer that God hasn’t seemed to answer, or a big decision we have to make, we have all found ourselves searching for the right answer on our own instead of trusting that God has a plan.
I had the privilege of growing up in a Christ-centered home. My dad was a pastor of a local church and my family has always rooted our life in Christianity. I grew up with godly examples of how to put my trust in God and how to put my faith in him. But, like most people, I have found myself in seasons of spiritual dryness and lacking trust in God with situations in my life.
Trusting God’s plan often doesn’t happen automatically. It’s a choice and a commitment I have to make daily to focus on God in my situations and to thank him for what he has done and what he will do. Proverbs 46 tells us to “trust in the Lord with all our heart and lean not on our own understanding.” No matter our circumstances, our gaze should remain the same: focused on the power of the Christ and wanting his will to be done in our lives.
What situation are you facing today that you need to surrender to him? Where do you need to trust him in your life? Today is the day to acknowledge and trust that God has a plan for your circumstance and will see you through.
God,
Give me the strength and patience to put my whole trust in you for every circumstance I face in my life. Thank you for knowing the desires of my heart and wanting what is best for me. I put my trust in you.
Amen.
