DAY 5

DAY 5

SCRIPTURE

But now this is what the Lord says: “Do not weep any longer, for I will reward you,” says the Lord. “Your children will come back to you from the distant land of the enemy. There is hope for your future,” says the Lord. - Jeremiah 31:16-17

PRAYER

Lord,

In this life, there are times–even seasons–of rebellion, wandering, mourning, or brokenness. I’ve experienced all of them at one time or another, and so have my family and friends. Knowing you see and care intimately for each one of us, and for each generation to come, overwhelms me with a sense of comfort and peace. You never leave me. You are always there when I turn back to you. You turn weeping to reward and promise hope for a future. Thank you, Lord, that you are faithful when I am not.

Amen.

JOURNAL REFLECTION

Reflect on times, or seasons, where you felt far from God, either due to lifestyle, an event, or maybe even doubt. How would you describe this time of your life?

CALL TO ACTION

As you continue to reflect on the wilderness aspects of your journey, read the devotion, “Anxiety and Forgetting Jesus.” Pray for God to remind you of his presence in times of distress, and rely on his strength when you experience doubt, fear, or trials this week.
