DAY 21

DAY 21

SCRIPTURE

In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God. - Romans 8:26-27 NIV

PRAYER

Heavenly Father,

How wonderful that when I don’t have the words to pray, or am unable to speak them, the Holy Spirit communicates my innermost thoughts and feelings on my behalf. These intimate, wordless conversations are raw, rooted in a place so deep sometimes words wouldn’t be sufficient even if I could muster the courage to speak them. In my most desperate times, when I want to pray for something I know is outside your will, it is best for me to be still and let the Spirit intercede and align my heart to be in accordance with the prayers he lifts to you on my behalf. Holy Spirit, please pray for me now and I will just be still.

Amen.

JOURNAL REFLECTION

Being filled with the Holy Spirit is a gift we receive when we accept Jesus as our Savior. Have you relied on the Holy Spirit to pray on your behalf before? In what type of situations do you find yourself calling on him? If you haven’t before, will you try it now?

CALL TO ACTION

God understands our hearts, our desires, our needs, our questions, and our weaknesses. What a powerful peace we have in knowing that he not only knows these things, but he cares so deeply for us and knows us so well, we don’t even need to say our prayers aloud sometimes. Today, find a quiet space and allow his peace to wash over you. Listen to “Holy Spirit” and allow the Holy Spirit to intercede on your behalf.
