In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He existed in the beginning with God. God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him. The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. - John 1:1-4 NLT

Father, today I acknowledge Jesus as the Word of God. When I study your Word, I am studying Jesus–the person, God/man. In a divine strategy, mysterious and purposeful, I cannot know the Word without studying Jesus, and I cannot know Jesus without studying the Word. I ask the Holy Spirit to illuminate truth as I undertake this pursuit to know you, to understand beyond mere facts and translations, and extending into intent and context, leading ultimately to transformation. In Jesus’s name I pray, amen.
