SCRIPTURE

I’m sure now I’ll see God’s goodness in the exuberant earth. Stay with God! Take heart. Don’t quit. I’ll say it again: Stay with God. - Psalm 27:13-14 MSG

PRAYER

Dear God,

I find myself becoming impatient in this waiting period, wanting to just give up, but you remind me time after time that you are faithful. You never leave me, and you don’t withhold your goodness saving it all for heaven; you reveal it on earth. Today, I choose to stay with you, to bind myself closely to you as if I am entwined as one with you. Your closeness will help me to be courageous and brave in the uncertainty, to be patient and endure in the waiting, and to never lose hope in you. I continue to pray for my brothers and sisters in Christ both near and far, and for your goodness and glory to be revealed here on earth for all to see. In your name,

Amen.

JOURNAL REFLECTION

Do you find yourself becoming impatient in your current circumstances? When has God shown you his goodness previously? How does that help you to stay with him throughout your situation now?

CALL TO ACTION

Patience and endurance are hard-won virtues, especially in today’s culture of instant gratification. Many of us struggle to remain patient and allow God to use us in our current circumstances; rather, we’re praying for the future to come quickly and for this difficult time to pass. As we continue to remain in isolation, it’s easy to lose sight of the work God is doing through us right now. Today, read the devotion, “In Times of Trouble, Sing to Yourself” to be reminded of the importance of building endurance and trusting God’s timing.
