Disaster Response

Hurricanes Helene and Milton

Two hurricanes caused major damage in six states (Florida, Tennessee, Georgia, Virginia, South Carolina, and North Carolina). Catastrophic flooding and mudslides destroyed homes, toppled trees, wiped out roads, and completely obliterated towns and communities. Other communities were left without power, water, and access to food and medical resources.

One of our global partners, Heart for Lebanon, is headquartered in Black Mountain, NC. Several key staff members have been greatly impacted by these storms, but are now safe.

Ministry Organizations on the Ground:

Feed the Hunger has already deployed and distributed 265,000 meals to Asheville and Boone, NC. They will send 160,000 additional meals on Monday, October 7. They are coordinating with Biltmore Church to determine ongoing needs and are holding special packing events to deploy more food as needed.

Samaritan’s Purse, headquartered in Boone, NC, is already on the ground assisting with food, medical, water, tarps, tree removal, and volunteer teams to help with clean up and mud-outs.

Church of God Anderson | Disaster Relief and Restoration has already sent funds to CHOG State Ministries in North Carolina, who in turn sends to local CHOG congregations to provide water, food and other resources as needed. They will be sending funds to Tennessee and Georgia as well.

They will also assist individuals (as needed), with necessary funds, who would like to go serve with Samaritan’s Purse once it is safer to serve in those areas. Contact: Michaela.

There is no operational support taken out of Disaster Relief and Restoration, so 100% of the funds donated will go toward disaster relief efforts.

We realize these needs will be ongoing, and we will continue to add additional opportunities to assist as we finalize details and assess the best ways to respond.

Heart for Lebanon

Due to the increased violent conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, Heart for Lebanon has had to stop its ministry in Southern Lebanon and relocate to Beirut and the Bekaa Valley. The staff remain uninjured and unharmed and have been ministering in extremely dangerous situations. The additional number of families reaching out for help has already grown into the thousands.
