So That’s Why Hebrew Poetry Doesn’t Rhyme!
Teachers: Stacey Douglas
About 35% of the Old Testament is written in Hebrew poetry. The psalms, proverbs, and prophetic speeches are rich with symbols and bold, sometimes bizarre, imagery that often baffles the modern mind. Understanding Hebrew poetry helps unlock the depth of meaning found in our favorite psalms and proverbs, as well as in the puzzling prophecies filled with so many woes and warnings. This class shows how Hebrew poetry works and how the biblical writers used it to communicate God’s word.
