Ministry partner, Brit-Vit Food Pantry has a variety of opportunities as a Food Pantry Assistant, including client assessor, client shopper, stocking shelves, keeping inventory, or picking up food donations from local grocery stores and restaurants. Opportunities are Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. and volunteers must be 18 years or older. The Brit-Vil Gardener position is a family-friendly service helping harvest fresh produce from the garden plots to be used by the Food Pantry.

If you have an interest in walking along-side those who are facing a challenging season in their life, we would encourage you to begin the application process to explore becoming a CareSeries Facilitator. A Resource Friend helps both the family in crisis or Host Family by providing goods they might need such as children’s furniture, clothing, diapers, wipes, car seats, or formula.

Safe Families Oklahoma is a nationwide effort designed to support vulnerable children and parents in need. Crossings is leading this community initiative and is dedicated to provide family support, stabilization and, most importantly, preventing child abuse. You can help a family in crisis through any of the following opportunities: host family, family coach, family friend, ministry lead, or an advisory committee member.

  • Host Families open their homes to children on a short-term basis without compensation. They also nurture an on-going relationship with the biological family, becoming a spiritual extended family.
  • Family Coaches help facilitate the relationship between host families and biological families. They offer guidance and support to the host family while the child is in the home, and help the biological family access resources and support to regain stability.
  • Family Friends serve as a healthy support system for a family in crisis or the Host Family. They may mentor, provide transportation, babysit, provide meals, etc. This may also include services such as physicians, dentists, barbers, daycare spots, etc.
  • Advisory Committee Members meet regularly, recruit volunteers, support volunteers, and aid in the execution and leadership of the Safe Families program.
  • Ministry Leads work to develop and facilitate the infrastructure of support for volunteers in the program. They also serve as the main liaison between Safe Families and Crossings.

Stephen Minister

A Stephen Minister is a committed lay person who has received 50 hours of initial training in caring ministry skills and concepts. The care given by Stephen Ministers is confidential, distinctively Christian, gender specific, one-to-one care given to a person who is wrestling with life issues. People who are experiencing grief, financial setbacks, retirement, divorce, family frustrations or spiritual struggles are a few examples of those helped by caring listening. Stephen Ministers are not counselors, therapists, problem solvers or casual visitors, but trained people committed to listening and lifting hurting people to God who is the Cure Giver.
