SCRIPTURE

If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. - James 1:5 NLT

PRAYER

Dear God,

Social media, local and national news, friends and family—everyone seems to have advice and opinions on how and what to do with both our individual and collective lives. I want to do the wise thing, not just follow the trend, or the directive, or what feels right. Lord, I lift up my concerns to you. I know my comfort isn’t the priority, but rather your purpose to make you known. How might I do that today? Fill me with your wisdom so I can move into the world in a cause for good, prospering others, intentionally loving others, reflecting your grace and peace in a world that so desperately needs it. You are a good and generous God, let me make you known for that.

In Jesus’ name,

Amen.

JOURNAL REFLECTION

What if you turned off all news sources for two days and just asked God for direction? How do you think you would proceed during this time? Are you willing to give it a try?

CALL TO ACTION

Sometimes, we can get caught up in our worldly news, culture, norms, and pressures and lose sight of what is important: our relationship with God, his will for our lives and living our lives so we can share his love with others. Today’s verse reminds us of an amazing truth: we can ask God for wisdom, and he will grant it to us. Take some time today to pray for wisdom from God, and consider how you can demonstrate God’s love to those in your life.
