SCRIPTURE

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. - Lamentations 3:22-23 ESV

PRAYER

Dear God,

You are a merciful God. In this time when news is conflicting depending on who you listen to or where you live, there is one constant: your faithfulness is great. Your mercies are there to meet me every morning. When I am sad, you greet me with mercy. When I am angry, you wake me with mercy. When I am worried, you calm me with mercy. Your answer to all of my fear-based emotions and behaviors is love and mercy. I am never outside your reach; I can’t outrun or overreact to make you leave me or withhold your love and mercy from me. Great is your faithfulness, Lord.

In Jesus’ name,

Amen.

JOURNAL REFLECTION

What makes you grateful for God’s new mercies? Do you have specific instances where you have looked to him for his steadfast love and mercy recently?

CALL TO ACTION

We can sometimes take God’s boundless mercies for granted, or miss them in our busy lives. As you read today’s prayer, consider how God meets you in every emotion and experience—sadness, anger, worry. Isn’t this incredible? Today, listen to the worship song, “Great Is Thy Faithfulness,” and hold onto this truth: we cannot do anything to make God withhold his love and mercy.
