SCRIPTURE

I prayed to the Lord, and he answered me. He freed me from all my fears. Those who look to him for help will be radiant with joy; no shadow of shame will darken their faces. In my desperation I prayed, and the Lord listened; he saved me from all my troubles. For the angel of the Lord is a guard; he surrounds and defends all who fear him. - Psalm 34:4-7 NLT

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, I pray knowing you hear me and will answer. The very act of turning to you releases me from my fear and leaves it at your feet, knowing you are my help and safe place. Let me come to you without preconceived answers, instead with an open mind and open hands, understanding your perspective is infinite and your answers to my prayers may be different than I expect, or even want. Teach me to lean into you for guidance, to learn to discern your will for my life, and to follow you with the assurance you are surrounding and defending me. In your name, Amen.

JOURNAL REFLECTION

What fears are you facing that the Lord could free you from? How can you pray for help specifically for those troubles? Write them down and watch for the Lord’s answers.

CALL TO ACTION

During times of uncertainty, change, and difficulty, we can easily get caught up in our fear instead of releasing it to God. But read today’s verse again: “In my desperation I prayed, and the Lord listened; he saved me from all my troubles.” How amazing is that? No matter what we are afraid of, no matter what we are dealing with, God desires to defend us, protect us, and strengthen us through those situations. Today, read the devotion,“Fear Not,” and focus on this truth.
