SCRIPTURE

Then, turning to his disciples, Jesus said, “That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food to eat or enough clothes to wear.” - Luke 12:22 NLT

PRAYER

Dear Jesus,

When I remember how you have met, and even exceeded, my needs in the past, I am able to put my trust in you to care for me in the present. But it seems as though my memory is being overwritten with fear-provoking news, and I find myself doubting and troubled. As I go through my day, bring to mind small provisions, as well as daring rescues you’ve performed on my behalf. Refresh my memory, remind me of your faithfulness in my everyday life. Replace my worry with your peace, my anxiety with your rest, and my doubt with your life-giving truth.

In your name I pray,

Amen.

JOURNAL REFLECTION

This season is giving everyone plenty to worry about—finances, sicknesses, future plans, and more. If there were a scale of worry to trust (with worry being 1 and fully trusting Jesus to provide as 10), where would you put yourself on that scale today? What is troubling you, and how are you limiting Jesus with your worry?

CALL TO ACTION

As Christ-followers, we know in our hearts that God is in control and is working everything out for our good, but as human beings, we can get ensnared by worry, anxiety, and stress. Today’s journal reflection offers us the unique perspective of putting our worry on a scale—what does that look like for you? How would you like to shift away from worry and embrace trust? Today, take time to share what is on your heart—whether that is worry, stress, anxiety, or some other trouble—with God through prayer.
