SCRIPTURE

Jesus looked at them intently and said, “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But not with God. Everything is possible with God.” - Mark 10:27 NLT

PRAYER

Jesus,

I live so much of my life putting faith in what is humanly possible. In fact, to be honest, my faith is most often placed in what is “me possible.” When I do this, I am living in the finite, the fathomable, and I leave you out of the equation. I neglect to figure in your unmeasurable grace and power, which combine to move mountains and calm storms. Thank you for the reminder today, that everything, not just some things, or easy things, but everything is possible with God. Everything includes healing during and after pandemics, restoring individuals and communities, redeeming what has been lost. Everything includes … everything. I pray, Lord, with my faith only in you, in your infinite and unfathomable power, knowing everything is possible with you.

It’s in your name I pray,

Amen.

JOURNAL REFLECTION

So often we live in the middle of this equation: Problem > me + my power and the power of all other humans. Our faith, however, is one where God is greater because he is all-powerful. The equation is more like this: problem < God + 0. How can you use this equation to battle whatever you face today? Remind yourself throughout the day or the week that God is greater in everything.

CALL TO ACTION

Do you ever pause to think about what it means that God is all-powerful? Doesn’t this bring you such peace, knowing the same God who created you, walks with you through your life, and loves you more than anything has such immeasurable power? Today’s prayer reminds us what this truth encompasses: God is powerful over disease, destruction, loss, grief, exhaustion, death–everything. Focus on this truth today, and listen to the worship song, “Good Grace.”
