SCRIPTURE

Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened. - Matthew 7:7-8 NLT

PRAYER

Dear Jesus,

Thank you that you don’t grow weary of my prayers, but instead encourage me to keep asking, keep seeking, and keep knocking. Just about the time I get tired of hearing my own voice in my head, I hear yours, prompting me to continue to cry out to God. You urge me to be persistent in my requests by promising response. While my finite brain can’t fathom how “everyone” who turns to you receives, finds, and has doors opened—that is the beauty in praying to an infinite God. So today I ask, seek, and knock, and wait upon your faithfulness.

In your name,

Amen.

JOURNAL REFLECTION

How does it encourage you when you read the words, “keep on asking … keep on seeking … keep on knocking”? Jesus says everyone—not just some—receive, find, and have doors opened. That means you, too. For what are you asking? What are you seeking? Why are you knocking on heaven’s door today?

CALL TO ACTION

As we begin this week, many of us are experiencing weariness—weariness from worrying about our daily lives and weariness from the uncertainty of the coming days. Often, when we get weary, we can turn away from God and try to deal with the problems we experience on our own. However, today’s prayer reminds us God not only never grows weary from our prayers, our cries, and our requests, but he also is always listening, always ready to comfort us, and always there for us. Today, take time to thank God for his provision and faithfulness, even when we can’t see how he is working right now.
