DAY 9

DAY 9

SCRIPTURE

Get rid of your sins, and leave all iniquity behind you. Then your face will brighten with innocence. You will be strong and free of fear. You will forget your misery; it will be like water flowing away. Your life will be brighter than the noonday. Even darkness will be as bright as morning. Having hope will give you courage. You will be protected and will rest in safety. - Job 11:14-18 NLT

PRAYER

Heavenly Father,

I know there are habits, failings, and vices in my life I need to leave behind, things that weigh me down which I try to hide from you and others. I’m bringing those to the light today and leaving them here. Forgive me, Lord, and give me strength to move forward with renewed innocence; remove any associated guilt and shame I tend to cling to. Go before me and protect me from the temptation to fall back into old ways. Thank you for new beginnings, tender mercies, and your light that shines as bright as the morning even in the darkness.

In your name,

Amen.

JOURNAL REFLECTION

Have you ever had habits or secrets you were afraid people would find out about? That they would feel differently about you if they knew? What did hiding feel like? Are you still in a place of hiding? What emotions describe that place? What would set you free?

CALL TO ACTION

Today, as you reflect on today’s Scripture and prayer, listen to the worship song, “Mercy.” Whatever secrets we hide or habits we are ashamed of, this powerful song reminds us God delights in showing us mercy, loving us, and allowing us to turn to him for comfort, strength, and encouragement.
