DAY 8

DAY 8

SCRIPTURE

They will be my people, and I will be their God. I will give them singleness of heart and action, so that they will always fear me and that all will then go well for them and for their children after them. I will make an everlasting covenant with them: I will never stop doing good to them, and I will inspire them to fear me, so that they will never turn away from me. I will rejoice in doing them good and will assuredly plant them in this land with all my heart and soul. - Jeremiah 32:38-41 NIV

PRAYER

God,

You are a covenant-making, covenant-keeping God. Your love and grace is unconditional–wholly dependent upon your sacrificial forgiveness, not a contractual kind of love that depends on me keeping up my end of a bargain. I pray my response to your unending mercy and grace is a contrite and humble heart, my surrendered will, and an obedient intent. Guide me with a singleness of heart and action to pursue your purpose for me today.

In your name,

Amen.

JOURNAL REFLECTION

Was there a time you “turned away from God” or a time before you knew him or believed in his goodness at all? Describe what your motivations or inspirations were during those times. What do you think it means to fear God?

CALL TO ACTION

God loves us unconditionally. Can you believe that no matter what we do, there is nothing that will cause God to turn away from us? Today, rest in the peace that comes with understanding God always desires a close relationship with us and loves us no matter what, and share a prayer request for whatever is on your heart today.
