DAY 7

DAY 7

SCRIPTURE

It was their sin and greed that made me angry, so I struck them and hid my face from them. But they continued in rebellion, following their own desires. Even though I’ve seen their ways, I will heal them. I will guide them forward and repay them with comfort, giving mourners the language of praise. I offer peace to those who are far from me, and I offer peace to those who are near, and I will heal their deepest wounds,” says Yahweh. - Isaiah 57:17-19 TPT

PRAYER

God,

Thank you for repaying my selfish and rebellious ways with comfort and healing. I know I have given you reason to be angry and hide your face from me, but your mercy is always fast coming and your grace is greater than my failures. When the world’s attractions lead me astray and I begin to backslide, you guide me forward, surrounding me with your peace. The consequences of sin cannot cut deeper than the healing you offer. In rejoicing or mourning, I will praise you as Alpha and Omega, God Eternal, with no beginning and no end.

Amen.

JOURNAL REFLECTION

Life apart from God has been described as brokenness or incompleteness. Can you think of a time in your life you would describe this way? What are some emotions or words you would associate with that time?

CALL TO ACTION

There are times when we feel our sins are too great for God to forgive. We can even feel there are times God will leave us where he found us: broken, rebellious, and wandering away from him further into darkness. Thankfully, our God is a God of boundless grace, mercy, understanding, and love. Record today’s Scripture in your 40 Days of Prayer journal, write it on a note, or put it in your phone so you can be reminded of it in trials and in times of triumph.
