DAY 20

DAY 20

SCRIPTURE

And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. - Romans 8:38-39

PRAYER

Dear God,

Your love is a love unlike any other. Your love is assured, unconditional, eternal. It is strong and unbreakable. My own personal fears and external powerful influences will try to separate me from your love, but I am convinced they will not prevail. Your love remains. Remind me of this truth as I go through my day. Let peace from this assurance reign in my heart. Lord, will you extend to me the grace and mercy I need to love others with the same zealous love you do?

In Jesus’ name I pray,

Amen.

JOURNAL REFLECTION

Have you ever felt like you were far away from God? What assurance do you get from the thought that nothing you do nor any external influences can separate you from God’s love?

END OF THE ENCOUNTER REFLECTION

Reflect on the journal questions from the past 10 days. How would you describe your encounter with Jesus--the first time you truly experienced his love and presence? The time you committed your life to him? What does it mean to you that God made a way for you to be right with him and that you don’t have to earn your salvation? Write your thoughts on the "My Encounter with Jesus" page of your 40 Days of Prayer journal.

CALL TO ACTION

As we draw the second section of 40 Days of Prayer to a close today, reflect on your experience so far. How has God used this intentional time of prayer, journal reflection, and exploration of your encounter experience? How have you felt God’s presence during this time? We encourage you to share the experience of your 40 Days of Prayer journey here.
