DAY 15

DAY 15

SCRIPTURE

And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her and said to her, “Do not weep.” - Luke 7:13 ESV When he went ashore he saw a great crowd, and he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. - Mark 6:34 ESV

PRAYER

Jesus,

Your compassion met me on that first day and has never left me. When I was afraid to show you all of my sins, you showed compassion. I felt as though you held me while I confessed, and you forgave each failure, even weeping with me at times. And now, when I’m overcome with grief, I know you see me. When I’m confused by life’s circumstances, you see me. When I’m stuck in temptation and can’t move, you see me. You come near, you comfort, you speak, you sympathize, and you care. I praise you, and want to make you known, as a God of compassion beyond measure.

Amen.

JOURNAL REFLECTION

What does compassion from Jesus mean to you? Have you felt this in your life? When? Do you need Jesus’ compassion for something in your life right now? If so, ask him to come near; believe that he sees you and cares for you.

CALL TO ACTION

Compassion can be described as sympathy and concern for the suffering of others. It’s amazing to realize the God of the universe feels compassion for us in our daily lives no matter what we experience. Today, as you go through your routine and spend time with others, focus on being compassionate to them, just as Jesus is compassionate to us. Take time to listen to others and make space in your schedule to care for or pray for them.
