DAY 13

DAY 13

SCRIPTURE

When God our Savior revealed his kindness and love, he saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit. He generously poured out the Spirit upon us through Jesus Christ our Savior. Because of his grace, he made us right in his sight and gave us confidence that we will inherit eternal life. - Titus 3:4-7

PRAYER

Dear Father,

There was nothing I could do to bring me closer to you. I would keep pushing you further and further away. You saw the growing distance and with undeserved mercy and radical, amazing grace, you sent your son, Jesus, to take upon himself all of my afflictions, my sins, and to die in my place so I could be made right with you. He saved me not only for this life, but I am assured of eternal life with you and all others who call upon his name as Lord. I don’t want to waste this new life you have given me through your loving sacrifice. Help me join with the Holy Spirit who lives in me to seek and follow your will and to live in accordance to this new life you literally died to give me. In your saving name I pray,

Amen.

JOURNAL REFLECTION

Have you thought about Jesus giving you a new birth and new life? Some people count the day they accepted Jesus into their lives as a kind of second birthday. Do you remember the actual date you gave your life to him? While you are in prayer and reflection today, listen to “Forever” and allow the truth in those lyrics to encourage you today.

CALL TO ACTION

Today’s prayer reminds us what amazing grace, mercy, and hope we have in Jesus. If you have given your life to Christ, reflect on the time in your life when you encountered him and made that life-altering decision. If you haven’t already given your life to Christ, are you ready today to follow Jesus and choose to put him at the center of your life? If so, you can do it right now with this simple but powerful prayer. If you decided to give your life to Christ today, celebrate by sharing your decision with someone.
