DAY 10

DAY 10

SCRIPTURE

He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. - Isaiah 40:29-31 NIV

PRAYER

Father God,

I keep pushing through my weariness believing I can do everything in my own strength, that I have the power to make it through one more day, one more trial. But I’m tired. I’m worn down. I need you, Lord. I surrender the control of my life to you. You are where my hope comes from. This isn’t about picking myself up and brushing myself off and relentlessly muscling through. This life is about kneeling before you, resting in your safe arms, and learning to soar in your strength and faithfulness.

It’s in your powerful name I pray,

Amen.

JOURNAL REFLECTION

Sometimes when we are young, we feel invincible. The truth is, even the young stumble and grow tired trying to carry and control everything. Can you think of times in your life that this was true for you? When have you just felt beaten down by life? What were you placing your hope in during those times? (For instance – your job, a degree, a person, money, etc.)

END OF THE WILDERNESS REFLECTION

Reflect on the journal questions from the past 10 days. How would you describe your wilderness--the time before fully giving your life to Christ? What were your motivations; what did you live for? What emotions or feelings describe that time? What were the biggest influences in your life? Was there anything missing? Write your thoughts on the "My Wilderness Page" of your 40 Days of Prayer journal.

CALL TO ACTION

As we draw the first section of 40 Days of Prayer to a close today, reflect on your experience so far. How has God used this intentional time of prayer, journal reflection, and exploration of your wilderness experience? How have you felt God’s presence during this time? We encourage you to share your experience of the first few days of your 40 Days of Prayer journey here.
