SCRIPTURE

And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him. And since we know he hears us when we make our requests, we also know that he will give us what we ask for. - 1 John 5:14-15 NLT

PRAYER

Father God,

The list of people and situations I am praying for continues to grow, and I find myself praying the same things over and over. Health, safety, endurance, comfort, healing, provision—these are just some of my daily requests to you. But, Lord, I know you hear me, and I know you answer my prayers. Align my words with your will; let my requests be pleasing to you. Turn my heart and prayers to your kingdom come, desiring your will be done here as it is in heaven.

It’s in your name I pray,

Amen.

JOURNAL REFLECTION

What does it mean that our prayers should be pleasing to God? What encouragement do you find knowing God is listening, and answering, your prayers?

CALL TO ACTION

Today’s Scripture reminds us not only that God is listening to us, but also that our prayers will be answered. How incredible is that? God knows the desires of our hearts, and while our prayers may not be answered quickly or in the way we think they should be, our prayers will be answered. Today, watch the sermon message, “This Is How You Should Pray,” to get back to the basics of prayer and take time to simply share your requests with God.
