SCRIPTURE

I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. - 1 Timothy 2:1 NLT

PRAYER

Dear God,

I lift up all of those working in essential positions during this pandemic and thank you for their skills and response to critical needs. Protect the doctors, nurses, and all healthcare providers and administrators, Lord. As the great Provider, I pray you work in supernatural ways to ensure supplies, tests, critical equipment, and all hospital resources will be available. Give them wisdom and patience to deal with the frustration this rampant virus presents. For those standing in for loved ones as souls pass into your glory, give them the strength to endure overwhelming grief and perseverance to care for the next patient. I pray for all of those working essential jobs to keep us safe and able to isolate, both those we see and those we don’t: grocery, pharmacy, farming, utilities, waste collection, first responders, delivery services, postal services, and so many more. I pray for our pastors and technology staff as they broadcast hope into our homes. And I pray for the leaders around the world as they make life-affecting decisions. Give them courage, wisdom, and godly counsel.

I ask this in your powerful name,

Amen.

JOURNAL REFLECTION

Who do you know serving in any of the essential positions right now? How can you pray specifically for them and their families? If you are one of those on the frontlines, know that you are being held up in prayer, first in thanksgiving for you and also for continued safety and stamina. Make a list of specific requests for prayer and know they are being prayed for.

CALL TO ACTION

In this unprecedented time, we are thankful that God’s provision is great and his mercy, grace, and love are endless. If you are currently enjoying the luxury of isolating at home, take a moment to thank God for your circumstances and for his hand in protecting you and your loved ones. If you are on the frontlines today, lean into God’s power when you grow weary, and allow his strength to carry you through all you may face. Take comfort in knowing others are praying specifically for you. If you like, you can also share a prayer request with us; our pastors and staff would be honored to pray for you today.
