SCRIPTURE

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. - John 14:27 NIV

PRAYER

God,

I desperately want to experience your peace today. Override the anxiety and restlessness I keep unconsciously continuing to run toward. Wake me up to your overwhelming presence of other-worldly peace. Lighten my heavy-heartedness. Let my thoughts and emotions be rooted in your great gift: the peace that comes from knowing I am not alone, that it is well with my soul, and I am whole. This is your offering: a peace that always remains and awaits me to claim it. Take my fear and give me peace.

In your powerful name,

Amen.

JOURNAL REFLECTION

What troubles you or makes you fearful? How would you describe the peace you need right now? Do you believe Jesus can fulfill that desire?

CALL TO ACTION

When we’re in the middle of seasons of trouble, it’s easy for us to take our eyes off Jesus and get caught up in our problems. But when we do that, we also step away from Jesus’ strength, power, and overwhelming peace, and we can be inundated with fear. Today, pray wholeheartedly about what is causing you anxiety. Release those things from your grip, hand them over to God, and allow his peace to prevail today.
