This somber service introduces the season of Lent and helps us center our hearts on Jesus as we approach Easter. There are five identical services on Wednesday, February 18, which include worship, an opportunity for communion, and the choice to share in the imposition of ashes—a physical symbol of repentance and death to our selfish nature (Galatians 2:20).

Ash Wednesday is the first day of Lent, which calls us to focus our hearts on repentance and prayer while looking forward to the joy of Easter and the celebration of Christ’s resurrection.
MORE ABOUT LENTLenten, otherwise known as Lent, is a time when many Christians prepare for Easter. The purpose is to set aside time for reflection on Jesus—his suffering and sacrifice; his life, death, burial and resurrection. Lent is traditionally a season of fasting, self-denial, spiritual growth, and penitence. This period of self-denial is a way of recalling Jesus’ 40-day fast in the wilderness.
Lent, which comes from the Germanic word for springtime, can be viewed as a spiritual spring cleaning: a time for taking spiritual inventory and then cleaning out those things which hinder our personal relationships with Jesus Christ and our service to him.
LENT DEVOTIONSSign up to receive weekly devotions designed to guide you through this season of reflection, repentance, prayer, and gratitude, leading up to the joy of Resurrection Sunday. Devotions begin Sunday, February 15.
