In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.

Proverbs 3:6

Acknowledge him–start with prayer. When I think about prayer, I think about planting a seed. Each prayer is like a seed that gets planted in the ground. It may seem to disappear for a while or sprout right away, but at some moment, it eventually bears fruit. Prayer is our connection to our Father.

Prayer is our pathway. Prayer is growing and planting those seeds. And growing is a choice you make by starting with prayer.

My grandsons, who are three and four years old, have been taught a simple prayer they sing every day. This Grammy loves to hear their sweet hearts singing their prayers. I can hear them now:

“God our Father, God our Father
once again, once again
we are here to thank you,
we shall ask our blessings,
amen, amen.”

We don’t need fancy words or even to sing our prayers, but we do need to just start. Don’t just think about it, don’t just acknowledge that it’s a good idea. Don’t fall prey to your excuses, like “I should do it,” or “I will get around to it.” Don’t just put your prayer on autopilot–really talk to our Father. Acknowledge Him everyday and plant your seeds.

Do you need to grow your prayer life? Start now. If you’re wondering where to begin, you can even start with “God our Father” and then just continue.
