What to Expect

Nursery ministry is fun-filled, safe, and a great way for your children to grow in their faith and community at Crossings OKC and Crossings Edmond.

A word about placing your child in nursery care: parents and siblings are asked not to enter the nursery classrooms. Children are received by staff members at the door and we will page you if your child is unable to be comforted.

When you bring your child to the nursery, we encourage you to bring the following labeled items in your diaper bag:

  • 3-4 diapers
  • pre-mixed bottles
  • pacifier
  • complete change of clothes

If your child or children show the following symptoms, please do not bring them to the nursery: fever, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, common cold, excessive cough, childhood diseases, chicken pox, heavy nasal discharge, unexplained rash, skin infection, eye inflammation or discharge, or head lice. Children should be free from these symptoms for at least 24 hours prior to coming to the nursery.

Parent / Child Dedication

When parents desire to commit to raising their baby in a Christian home and church, the parents and child are recognized in a Sunday morning service at Crossings OKC or Crossings Edmond. This public profession is not infant baptism as we do not offer baptism prior to a person’s choosing to believe in Christ.

Parents are asked to attend a special one-hour class prior to having their child dedicated. Preregistration is required – you can find out more information about Parent / Child dedication by checking out Nursery events and classes below.

Nursery Ministry also includes Mother’s Day Out, which exists to provide a safe and loving environment where children begin learning independence and interactive play, while forming new friendships with other children and adult teachers. Mother’s Day Out meets September-May and July (optional) on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m. for ages 6 months through 4 years at Crossings OKC campus.

Special Needs

Crossings Nursery offers a program for children with special needs at the 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. service times as well as during Wednesday evening activities at Crossings OKC. This program offers a one-on-one to one-on-few ministering environment for children of differing abilities.

Children have the opportunity to participate in a small Sunday School class, a large group experience with an adult leader, or a combination of these options. Our leaders have a heart for serving children with special needs and feel blessed to share Christ’s love with them.

Please contact Shelly Taylor if your child has an allergy so it can be indicated on your child’s name tag. Leaders have access to an outdoor playground for the children and will use it occasionally as weather and time permits.

Your child’s safety is important to us. That’s why all children must be checked in by a parent using one of the check-in stations located throughout the building. You’ll receive a name tag for your child and a corresponding tag for you. You must show your corresponding tag in order to pick up your child from his/her classroom.
