On Thursday of this week, the fortieth day after Easter Sunday, we mark the ascension of Jesus, the mysterious departure of His physical presence from the earth. Jesus had spoken of this before He died (See John 16). As we vicariously identify with the disciples, who saw Jesus taken into heaven, let us stand at the thematic intersection of Christ’s departure from us into glory, Christ’s presence in us by the Spirit and Christ’s witness through us to the world. In our choices this week, how can we ‘make the most of the time’ in light of these three realities?
