OKC School Outreach

January 22

Is God calling you to serve in our local community? Look over the opportunities to serve one of our inner-city school partners, decide which one (or more!) you want to be a part of then sign up to volunteer using the “Volunteer Now” button below!

In July, you’re invited to explore the available opportunities in more detail, ask questions, meet our Missions Ministry team, and sign up to volunteer. Sundays July 8th, 15th, 22nd, and 29th in the Crossings OKC Atrium from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m, you have the opportunity to learn more about our inner city school partners, which include:

  • The Club with John Marshall Mid-High School
  • Whiz Kids
  • Eugene Field Elementary
  • Stanley Hupfeld Academy
  • SeeWorth Academy
  • Shidler Elementary

Crossings Community Center – 10255 N. Penn Ave, 73120

The CLUB with John Marshall Middle & High School is an on-going weekly opportunity to engage in Bible Lessons, mentoring, life skills, fun, food & relational support with 7th-12th grade students from John Marshall Middle & High School.

The Club Small Group Leaders

Lead and mentor a group of teenagers, helping them discover all God Has for them as they navigate these crucial adolescent years.

The Club Life Skills Training

Teach a group of teenagers a life skill set over a six week training course.

The Club CDL Drivers

Transport students from John Marshall Mid-High to the Community Center for participation in The Club on a rotation.

Center Hosts

Hosts to open and close center for weeknight activities.

The Lego Club

Teach children in our community God’s word, creative thinking, focus, and public speaking skills, all through the wonder of Legos! We will have different Lego Club meetings throughout the week at 6pm, catering to different ages and skill levels. No experience required. We’ll train you!

Student Mentor

Serve as a mentor to an individual student 2 hours/week–any day of the week.

Career Mentor

Meet in small groups. Career examples: nurses, electricians, plumbers, active duty military, hairstylists, etc.

Teacher Partner

Partner with a specific teacher in the classroom by praying and serving. You may help specific students who need more attention, lead a creative time, or read to small groups. Coordinate day/time that works best for you and the teacher.

Book Club Reader

Gather weekly to read to a small group of 2nd or 3rd grade students.

  • Times: August – May // Tuesdays or Wednesdays // Lunchtime

Reading Resource Team

Assemble and deliver reading booklets for students in 2nd – 5th grades.

Shidler Elementary – 1415 S Byers Ave, 73129

Adopt A Class

Select a class and maintain a regular presence working with the teacher on any needs (helping students’ complete homework, helping with group projects, reading to the kids, etc.). Coordinate day/time that works best for you and the teacher.

Mentoring

Encourage higher level thinking skills with a 5th or 6th grader through the Summit Mentoring Program. Training provided by the school.

One on One Reading Mentor

Enjoy a snack together before reading with your assigned student from Capitol Hill Elementary School. Offer academic and spiritual encouragement.
