Heavenly Father, as we prepare to enter the most holy week, I pray for eyes to see the immense value of Your Son’s gift to us. Tune my spirit to Yours so that I don’t miss a thing. Even if the sensation brings sorrow, and even if I have to struggle with my own participation in all that the cross represents. May the fragrance of my love and gratitude honor your sacrifice, and may it always be an expression of worship in our home. Amen.
Six days before the Passover, Jesus therefore came to Bethany, where Lazarus was, whom Jesus had raised from the dead. So they gave a dinner for him there. Martha served, and Lazarus was one of those reclining with him at table. Mary therefore took a pound of expensive ointment made from pure nard, and anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped his feet with her hair. The house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.
