Scope of Position:

The Dental Assistant is responsible for assisting with the scheduling of provider volunteers and clients in need of dental services within the scope of our care. Responsibilities include assisting with the scheduling of patients with providers, ordering supplies for the use of dental care, cleaning and stocking supplies. Performing chair side support. Training and nurturing volunteers and delegating responsibilities to volunteer team members. This position reports to the Director of Clinic Operations.

Qualifications

  • Experience with dental office functions and general dental patient care support.
  • Active Dental Assistant permit from the Oklahoma Board of Dentistry.
  • Has a heart for compassion and is a confidential steward of patient privacy.
  • Is willing to engage in prayer with clients.
  • Intermediate computer skills – will use various applications including EHR and Volgistics.
  • Ability to work effectively as a ministry team member promoting excellent patient care.
  • Ability to be a spiritual leader among the staff and volunteers with a strong commitment to the mission.
  • Exhibits strong spiritual gifts of discernment, compassion, teaching and encouragement.
  • Professional communication skills, verbal and written.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with retrieving and triaging calls from clients in need of dental services.
  • Assist with qualifying patients for the services we offer and schedule appointments. In some cases, refer patients to other sources for care.
  • Maintain providers’ and patients’ schedule in dental software program.

  • Use electronic documentation for patient treatment planning and wait list. 

  • Follow the department policies for patient care within the scope of the clinic ministries.
  • Work with providers and process patient referrals and care issues.
  • Assist in policy review when requested to improve patient care.
  • Work with volunteers with a sensitive heart while serving the patients. 

  • Provide a monthly report to the clinic executive director and as requested.
  • Prayerfully consider ways God can use this service as a means to a deeper relationship with God for those being served. 

  • Direct patients with medical needs within the clinic policies. 

  • Work with all clinic staff and volunteers to foster team relationships while caring for and serving patients.
  • Establish professional, collegial relationships with other outside dental and medical services.
  • Maintain a database of outside resources and referrals made.
  • Assist with grant writing as requested.
  • Any other duties as may be assigned to fulfill the position.

Commitment

The Dental Assistant is a part-time, at-will hourly employment position that requires flexible scheduling to include occasional evening and weekend hours. 


Physical and Other Requirements

  • Be able to stand for up to four hours, walk a quarter of a mile, and to lift and carry 15-25 pounds for 500 feet
  • Must possess a current driver’s license.
  • Maintain a vibrant relationship with Christ through prayer, Bible study, and fellowship.

Scope of Position:

The Physician Medical Director provides direct patient care, sets standards of care by overseeing policy, guiding, directing and training other medical volunteers and assumes supervisory responsibility for the Advanced Practitioners in a Christ‐centered environment. The Physician Medical Director is a collaborative member of the health care team performing duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with the mission and values of Crossings Community Clinic. The Physician Medical Director also serves as a member of the Clinic Leadership Team and reports to the Director of Crossings Community Clinic.

Qualifications

  • Medical degree from an ACGME or AACOM accredited medical school and accepted residency.
  • Board certified/eligible in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine.
  • In good standing with the state of Oklahoma Medical Board and qualified for standard malpractice insurance rates.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of health planning and management.
  • Intermediate skills with an EHR
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of the health care team promoting excellent patient care.
  • Ability to actively engage, lead, coach, develop, and energize volunteers and staff.
  • Ability to be a spiritual leader among the staff and volunteers with a strong commitment to the mission.
  • Strong spiritual gifts of discernment, compassion, teaching, and encouragement.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses the health status of individuals and families through history taking, physical examination and diagnosis. 

  • Prescribes and manages the medical plan of care for assigned patients. Initiates follow‐up for lab and diagnostic testing results as indicated. Initiates and maintains accurate records.

  • Provides educational information to patient and family regarding the patient condition, promotes health maintenance collaborating with the team to coordinate and facilitate optimal health and care. 

  • Provides clinical supervision/oversight of Advanced Practitioner(s). 

  • Conducts chart reviews to ensure appropriate documentation and record keeping by staff and volunteer providers.
  • Recommends opportunities for improvement and service expansion to enhance the offering of effective prevention and medical interventions.
  • Ensures compliance with standards, laws and regulations as created by regulatory and accrediting organizations. 

  • Prays with patients/families/staff/volunteers and directs, when needed to, resources for healthy physical and spiritual lives. 

  • Participates in the recruitment, selection and orientation of physician volunteers.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with volunteers and related community organizations that are partners in the clinics ministry. Represents the interests of the Clinic within the community as a ministry. 

  • Participates in interview and selection process of key clinic personnel. 

  • Assists with the educational activities for the staff and Clinic volunteers.
  • Other duties may be assigned to fulfill the job’s position.
