He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy.

Colossians 1:17-18 NIV

DEVOTION – DECEMBER 30, 2018

We can spend excessive amounts of time and energy attempting to keep things together in our lives. Thankfully, Christ is the controlling force of the universe and capable of holding things together for us, so we don’t have to.

Recently, I experienced the power of Christ’s control during my move from the corporate sector. It was effortless because I didn’t have to orchestrate the way it would take place or the timing. My responsibility was to trust him.

Our trust in God rests on His promise to provide for us. There’s no need to worry about the failures of our past, our present necessities, or future challenges because Christ is more than able to take care of us as we follow him.

Consider giving complete control to Christ. He fills our emptiness and brings us to ultimate fulfillment. What might Christ do in us, with us, and through us as we let him have control of all aspects of our lives? Through him, we will move beyond what we thought possible as he demonstrates his ability to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine.

Are we willing to trust him beyond our self-made borders? The one who is the controlling and cohesive force of the universe stands ready to be the amazing power in our lives.

May we allow him to have his way.
