The Academy of Fine Arts and Character (AFAC) believes that the arts are a foundation for human expression.
We also believe that through a Christian environment with instructors of faith, children and adults may best experience and achieve their desired level and quality of performance in their chosen art discipline. The highest goal is the utilization of their art form as a vehicle to worship God.
AFAC is built on the need for an arts curriculum based on faith and excellence that results in outstanding art instruction and character with a teaching staff who exemplify and value these qualities. All instructors have been interviewed, have a faith base, have had a background check, and have been declared to be a master teacher in their art and skill set.
Complete the one-time registration located below. A one-time membership fee of $20 is required for Academy classes. The Online Registration includes the option to pay the membership fee, and the Form should be completed and returned with membership fee to the church offices labeled: Attn: AFAC. Returning students do not pay the membership fee.
Our private music lessons include the following: piano, voice, strings, wind, and other instruments.
All instructors have been interviewed, have a faith base, have had a background check, and have been declared to be a master teacher in their art and skill set. Classes and lessons for beginners and private lessons for intermediate and advanced students are held after school for most students unless it is possible during the day and acceptable to both teachers and students. Sessions are for a half hour with tuition ($25 / half hour – arrangements for payment are made with individual teachers) paid monthly.

Landscape Painting Class
This six-week workshop is geared for adults wanting to experience a painting adventure. If you have never painted or are at the beginning of your painting journey, this workshop is for you.
This workshop will provide an organized process for landscape painting. Our focus will be on composition, values, drawing with a brush, and, of course, color. Included in this adventure will be an introduction to Plein air painting (painting outside of the studio, weather permitting).
We will be using gouache as our paint medium. Gouache is essentially an opaque watercolor and can be applied like watercolor or acrylic paint. We will supply you with a limited palette.
Upon conclusion of this workshop you will be able to:
- Identify how to grow a personal learning library.
- Demonstrate studio and plein air safety.
- Use landscape painting guidelines (composition, value, drawing, color).
- Practice studio and Plein air painting.
The class begins Tuesday, March 24 and runs through Tuesday, April 28 and is $175. Register using the “online registration” button located above in the AFAC Registration section. If you have any questions, please contact Barb Fowler at firstname.lastname@example.org.
