When they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their cloaks over it, he sat on it. Many people spread their cloaks on the road, while others spread branches they had cut in the fields. Those who went ahead and those who followed shouted, “Hosanna!” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David!” “Hosanna in the highest heaven!”
– Mark 11:7-10 NIV
As I read and remember the pomp and celebrations with which Jesus was received into Jerusalem, I want to receive him into my heart again today with the same exuberance as we enter into Holy Week and begin the journey towards the cross. I don’t want this day to pass as if it were just another day, but to declare, privately and publicly, that Jesus truly is the King of Kings. Thank you, Lord, for sending your Son and paving the way for lives to be set free through Jesus’ death on the cross. May I always be one of the loudest to shout, “Hosanna!” Let my life reflect my heart’s allegiance to you, my King.
In your name,
