Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.

– Matthew 11:28-30 NIV

Dear Jesus,
I need your promised rest today, Lord. My steps are slowing, my face is downcast, and I am weighed down, weary and worn out from the stress and burdens I’m carrying. I am answering your call to “come to you.” Let me learn from you, your gentleness and your humble ways. I want to share your yoke, to find rest for my weary soul. I know when we are yoked together, we are close, we stand shoulder to shoulder, we are in step with each other. Lord, lead me on the path where my burdens are light, where I learn to care more about what matters to you and less about what troubles me. That is where my soul will find its true rest and my heart will know peace.

In this busy spring season, we often find ourselves weary, burdened, and exhausted from our daily lives, our struggles, and our temptations. During these times when we are worn down, we can forget we’re not alone–God is with us no matter what we’re going through. Today, make time in your schedule to sit in silence and share your burdens with God. You may want to write them down, jot them in a note on your phone, share them with someone you trust, or simply pray about them. Whenever you take this time, ask God to reveal himself to you and help you understand he is with you no matter how weighed down you feel.
