Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
– John 14:27 NIV
You promise a peace like nothing the world can offer, beyond the absence of conflict or transient relief of stress and anxiety–your peace is not tied to circumstances, status, or the state of affairs. You grant a peace that transcends the human condition, a tranquil state of a soul assured of salvation through Christ, restored and reconciled to God. I pray for this peace today. Help me to reject any fears or worries that try to settle into my life, and if they come, let me stand strong and not try to solve them with the distractions or temporary fixes the world offers, but to single-mindedly embrace your promise and let peace reign in my heart.
In the powerful, peace-offering name of Jesus,
