SCRIPTURE:

Be prepared. You’re up against far more than you can handle on your own. Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued, so that when it’s all over but the shouting you’ll still be on your feet. Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation are more than words. Learn how to apply them. You’ll need them throughout your life. God’s Word is an indispensable weapon. In the same way, prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare. Pray hard and long. Pray for your brothers and sisters. Keep your eyes open. Keep each other’s spirits up so that no one falls behind or drops out.

– Ephesians 6:13-18

PRAYER:

Dear Jesus,
You have given me everything I need for the daily battles I face. I pray you will remind me of the truth in your Word, give me recall and wisdom, for your Word is powerful and mighty. Remind me of the righteousness that is mine through your grace and sacrifice–that I am forgiven and in right-standing before God, so I can be confident. Fill me with peace in all situations, knowing my faith in you is well-founded as you are trustworthy. My hope is in you alone, and my salvation is secure; you are my God and my ever-present help in time of need–I need not be afraid. Keep me alert and ready, and show me how I can encourage and support my brothers and sisters. When my strongest position in the battle is on my knees, keep me there, Lord, and hear my prayer.
In boldness I pray,
Amen.

CALL TO ACTION:

Today’s prayer reminds us we can’t handle everything thrown at us on our own–we must rely on God, our relationships with him, and studying his Word for strength and endurance. One of the most powerful ways we build our relationships with God is through prayer. Take a few moments to read this article on Prayer Walking to learn more about how you can become more aware of the needs of others around you and more closely connected to God in this way.
