Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

– Romans 12:2

Father God,
The day I first believed, I became a work in progress. My stubbornness can get in the way of that progress, and sometimes stops it altogether. When I choose my will over yours, I quickly fall into my old way of thinking and my old behaviors. So today, I recommit my life to you. I ask you to please forgive me for turning away, and I give you my mind, body, heart, and soul, and ask your Spirit to continue to transform me by changing how I think. As I read your Word, give me the understanding to know your good, pleasing, and perfect will, and the courage and determination to follow it. Lead me away from my selfishness and the tendencies I have to follow the ways of the world, and continue your work in me on to completion. Make me new, Lord, as only you can.
In your powerful name I pray,

How many times does God try to work in us, but we thwart his will by trying to take control or ignoring his nudgings? As we get weary from our daily lives and our culture, it can be easy to tune out God’s voice and give in to societal pressures instead of following his will for us. Today, spend ten minutes in silent prayer and reflection and ask God to give you clarity on the ways you can follow his will more closely in your daily life.
