Keep cleansing me, God, and keep me from my secret, selfish sins; may they never rule over me! For only then will I be free from fault and remain innocent of rebellion. So may the words of my mouth, my meditation, my thoughts, and every movement of my heart be always pure and pleasing, acceptable before your eyes, my only Redeemer, my Protector, my God.

– Psalm 19:13-14 TPT

You know my every thought and yet, you still love me. You see behind the image, you hear my secrets whispered silently in my heart, and you know my motives can be selfish and rebellious. Now, Lord, hear my humble confession and wash me clean. Please forgive me and give me strength to turn my focus to what is pleasing and acceptable to you. As I encounter people and situations today, remind me of your presence with me, and may my words and actions reflect your character, shine light on your redeeming grace, and bring glory to your name.
In Jesus name,

How often do we struggle with our secret sins but strive to create the façade of a perfect Christ-follower for others to see? God knows what tempts us, what our sins are, and what we struggle with, and, as today’s prayer reminds us, he still loves us. As you think about the magnitude of this fact, watch “Walking by the Spirit,” a message that delves deeper into our sins and how we can grow in our relationships with God through confession.
