Go out and stand before me on the mountain,” the Lord told him. And as Elijah stood there, the Lord passed by, and a mighty windstorm hit the mountain. It was such a terrible blast that the rocks were torn loose, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. And after the earthquake there was a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire there was the sound of a gentle whisper.

– 1 Kings 19:11-12

Heavenly Father,
It seems as though I am quick to pray for big miracles, but neglect to ask for the simpler gifts or notice you in the quiet and unremarkable times. Lord, make me more aware of your presence in the calmness of life, and help me not wait to seek you only in the storms. You are present everywhere, like the air that I breathe, without asking to be noticed, yet always working and sustaining life. Remind me that you are never far from me, and slow my pace enough to not miss your voice in the stillness.
In your name I pray,

Throughout 60 Days of Prayer, we have been reminded to slow down, prioritize our time with God, and lift our voices in prayer to him each day. This sounds so simple, but it is truly a challenge we accept each day we make time to be in God’s Word and pray the daily prayer. How have you noticed God’s presence and work in the quiet times in your life over the past 32 days? How have you lived out the calls-to-action and Scriptures included each day?
