And when you fast, don’t make it obvious, as the hypocrites do, for they try to look miserable and disheveled so people will admire them for their fasting. I tell you the truth, that is the only reward they will ever get. But when you fast, comb your hair and wash your face. Then no one will notice that you are fasting, except your Father, who knows what you do in private. And your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.

– Matthew 6:16-18 NLT

Dear God,
As we prepare to enter into this season of Lent and the journey toward Easter, empty me of pride and anything else that gets in the way of my relationship with you. Show me what I need to give up, avoid, or fast from so that I can grow closer to you in this time of focused prayer. I don’t want the applause of the world, I want only to abide in you, to be known by you. Let that be enough for me, Lord. Let that fill me and quench my soul’s desire.

Before, during, or after you attend a service today, visit one of the Prayer Walls (in the front of the OKC Chapel, OKC Venue and EDM Venue; in the back of the OKC Sanctuary). Share a prayer about what God might be leading you to give up for Lent, pray for someone else who has shared a request, or do both.
