Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith.

Loving Father,
You have called me to live by faith. I want to trust you, to place my life in your capable hands. Sometimes I feel weighed down by the things of this world–temptations, distractions, self-centeredness–but you have given me a prize on which to set my eyes. If I focus on Jesus, my reward, the one who both created my faith and completes it, I can make it over every hurdle, endure every hardship, and finish the race you have set before me. Don’t let me lose sight of Jesus today. Lord, let my faith become more perfect, more complete each hour of the day.
