“He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son.”

– Colossians 1:13 ESV

Father God,
This world can seem so dark, with political division, conflict in relationships, selfishness, greed, addiction, illness, and the hardest: death. I admit I sometimes find it difficult to reconcile a good and gracious God with everything I experience around me. Refresh my memory, Lord; let me feel your presence. Shine the light of your countenance upon my face and renew my spirit as I seek your kingdom with all of my heart and soul today, and let me reflect your light into any darkness I encounter.
In Jesus’ Name,

What evidence do you see of the domain of darkness? What areas of your life do you consider were/are part of that? What kind of consequences do you think come from those things?

On this earth, it is inevitable we will experience darkness. But, as today’s prayer reminds us, we are not alone in the darkness; God is always with us. Today, if you are in a season of darkness, visit to explore resources for support and encouragement, and learn more about classes, groups, and counseling available to you.
